Minutes of trustees' meeting

The Ocheyedan Library Board met on Wednesday July 9, 2009, at 4:30 p.m.  President Tammy Hoekstra called the meeting to order.  Members present were:  Tammy, Nancy, Carol, Laurie, Bernie and Librarian Connie Schuster.  Don and Amy were absent.

Laurie moved that the minutes from the May meeting and the special June meeting be approved.  Nancy seconded and the motion carried.

Nancy said she had met with the City Clerk in regards to our cash balance.  She proposed we continue with the City Clerk’s balance.  Bernie moved that we accept the Clerk’s balance.  Laurie seconded and the motion carried.

Nancy reported that we have a bank balance of $29,586.67.  Trust and Agency had $19,299.52.  The General Fund showed $10,157.15.

The bills were read by Nancy.  Bernie moved they be approved and sent to the City Council.  Laurie seconded and motion carried.

Connie reported that we had checked out 129 books more than at this time last year. Our largest day was 114 books checked out.

Unfinished Business

A check was sent for $1,111 for prepaid fuel contract. 

New Business

Bernie moved that Carol Iedema be nominated for secretary.  Nancy seconded and motion carried.  Laurie Glade will move up to president and Bernie Willadsen will be vice-president. 

Bernie and Tammy will continue as trustees as their terms ended June 30th.

Connie reported 21 signed up for the Summer Reading program.  Average attendance was 19.  She had four helpers.  18 reached their halfway point.  14 reached their goal.  One read 60 books.  Two read 33 books each.  Ninety dollars was spent for the program.

The Enrich Iowa letter of agreement has been signed and returned.

E-rate discount approved for FY 2009/2010

First Search letter of Agreement with the state has been signed and returned.

The state says we may charge $2.00 for ILL.

The meeting adjourned.  Next meeting will be August 8, 4:30 p.m.
