August 4, 2010

The Ocheyedan library board met on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 4:30 p.m.  Vice President Bernie called the meeting to order.  Members present were Bernie Willadsen, Nancy Faber, Carol Iedema, Don Hormel, and librarian Connie Schuster.

Nancy moved that the minutes for the May meeting be approved.  Don seconded and the motion carried.

Nancy reported that we have a bank balance of $37,205.12.  Trust and Agency had $26,815.22.  General Fund showed $9,389.90.
The bills were read by Nancy. Nancy made a motion they be approved and sent to the City Council.  Don seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Unfinished Business
The city council took bids to remove the dead tree.  There is also a branch over the library roof needing to be taken off.
Marlin Laverman will take care of the southeast corner of the building where the water has washed the dirt away at no charge.
Nancy moved we ask Ken Heronimus of Seamless Gutter to fix the gutter to prevent the washing away of the dirt.  Don seconded and it was approved.
The summer reading program is going well.
Carol moved and Nancy seconded that we have our Open House September 7-11.  Betty Taylor will be here for a book signing Friday September 10.  Jean Tennant will be here with her new book. Karen Back Schut has also written a story in Jean’s book and will be coming with them.  She was a former teacher in Ocheyedan.  We will serve coffee and cookies and have drawings.

New Business
Nancy went over the annual report.
Nancy moved and Carol seconded that we not be open August 14 for Days of Olde.
The city council is including the library sidewalk for snow removal this winter, providing someone is interested in doing the job.

The meeting was adjourned.  The next meeting will be September 8, 2010.
