Minutes of Trustees' meeting

The Ocheyedan Library Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 4:30pm.

Members present were:  Bernie Willadsen, Laura Glade, Don Hormel, Tammy Hoekstra, Nancy Faber, Linda Kogelman, Janet Kleve and Librarian Connie Schuster.

Meeting was Called to Order by President Bernie Willadsen.

Motion was made by Laura and seconded by Janet to approve the  minutes. Carried.

Treasurer's Report:  Bank Balance of $43,350.26
                                Trust and Agency Balance of $27,307.42
                                General Fund Balance of $16,042.84
    Bills to be sent to the City Council were read and a motion was made by Laura and seconded by Linda to approve.  Carried.

Librarian's Report: 
    There were 2 new borrowers, circulation was down.
    Annual reports were received from the Ashton Public Library and the Sibley Public Library.

Unfinished Business: 
    Outside Light:  Scott Robertson will install the outside lighting today.

    Winter snow removal:  Connie has spoken to Eric Carlson and he will not be doing the removal of snow this winter.  She has spoken to Jacob Anderson, who seems very interested, but he will have to ask permission of his parents first.

    Basement:  Samples of indoor/outdoor carpeting were brought for the meeting.  It was decided to call Carpet Plus of Worthington to measure and assess the cost of the project.  There is approximately $4,300.00 remaining of the insurance check.  Those members who can be available when the representative comes, will decide which carpet to buy.

New Business:
    Committee to review Long Range Plan:  Laura and Bernie volunteered.

    Apply for a Community Foundation Grant:  Grant is $3,500.00.  Discussion on possibly requesting grant money for basement ballasts and/or a backup sump pump.  Tabled until next meeting.   

Meeting adjourned.

Date of next meeting will be October 5th at 4:30pm.
