Minutes of Trustees' meeting

The Ocheyedan Library Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, June 6 , 2012, at 4:30 p.m.

Members present were:  Bernie Willadsen, Laura Glade, Tammy Hoekstra, Nancy Faber, Don Hormel, Janet Kleve and Librarian Connie Schuster. Absent: Linda Kogelmann.

Meeting was Called to Order by President Bernie.

Motion was made by Tammy and seconded by Laura to approve the  minutes. Carried.

Treasurer's Report:  Bank Balance of $43,965.49
                                Trust and Agency Balance of $27,307.42
                                General Fund Balance of $16,658.07
    Bills to be sent to the City Council were read and a motion was made by Janet and seconded by Laura to approve. Carried.

Librarian's Report:
    1.  4 new borrowers
    2.  22 children attended the summer reading program this afternoon along with 6 helpers. They built a sod house.
   
Unfinished Business: 
1.  Progress on Grant projects:
    *Ten Kley presented a bill of $904.62 for the electrical work, fluorescent bulbs supply, etc.     
    *bookcase for the bound newspapers has been received.
    * no word from Denny Duitsman regarding the sump pump.
    *Marlin Laverman has begun removing the landscaping rock.
    2.  Plans for Library's 100 years:  will look in to celebrating in conjunction with the town's Days of Old, August 11th at the City Park.  Connie will obtain information regarding setting up a table at the Park. Plans will be made next month from the information.
    3.  Fuel contract:  a contract was received from Coop Energy for 1500 gallons @ $1.56 if paid in full at the time of signing the contract. Bernie mentioned fuel bid was down to $1.36 & we should ask for a new contract at that price.  Connie will call.  A motion was made by Tammy and seconded by Laura giving Connie permission to sign a new contract.  On Thursday, the 7th, Connie emailed the board members that  “ Coop Energy is sending us a new contract - 1500 gal prepay LP @ 1.36 per gallon.  I'm changing the bill sheet to read $2040.00 so the council can approve and Chrissi can issue a check next week.”

New Business:
1.    Enrich Iowa Letter of agreement:  Connie will send in and check the areas of Open Access circulation  transactions, Interlibrary Loan Reimbursement and Direct State Aid.  May not received any aid as the State is aware we are without a certified librarian.  There is a 2 year leniency for libraries actively seeking a certified librarian.
2.    1/2 stipend of $1000.00 will be paid to Diane Truckenmiller.

Date of next meeting will be Tuesday, July 3rd at 4:30pm. due to the Independence Day holiday.
