Your Library Card

Who can get a library card, how to apply, and how to use your library card.
  • Residents of Ocheyedan and the surrounding area are eligible to apply for a library card. Temporary cards may be granted to long-term visitors, as long as a permanent address is given.
  • Applications are available at the circulation desk. Those applying for a card must give a permanent home address, mailing address and phone number. Each family member over the age of four is asked to have their own card. Parents must sign the library card for children under the age of 14.
  • How to use your library cardLibrary card

    • All materials except magazines and videos circulate for two weeks; magazines and videos circulate for one week.
    • There is a limit of four videos/DVDs per patron.
    • We have a reciprocity agreement with the Plum Creek Library System at Worthington, Minn. We also participate in Open Access, which allows patrons to borrow from all other Open Access libraries in Iowa using their Ocheyedan library card.
    • Items are to be returned to the circulation desk during library hours, or through the book drop when the library is closed.
    • Materials may be renewed for two weeks (one week for videos), in person, by phone or e-mail to:
    • Overdue charges are .10 per item per day, or .50 per week. Fines will be collected on all overdue items, and patrons with unpaid fines will not be allowed to check out further items until fines are paid.
    • Items not available at our library may be requested through inter-library loan (ILL). Make your request to library staff members.
    • Patrons may ask that an item currently checked out be reserved for them when it is returned.
